Clients - Tessy Bauer
The Brussels-based, Luxembourg-born artist Tessy Bauer is known for her quirky approach to the everyday and the banal. Her work is inherently hybrid, stretching from sculpture to gastronomy, to design and drawing. Rooting her practice in a keen interest in the mechanisms of surrealism, the exhibitions and works she produces are incongruous and absorbing, using unexpected materials and pulling references from sources as wide as Dali, Kafka, Jeff Koons, or Marcel Broodthaers. Piknik was approached to create her website, intended as an image gallery that truly reflected Bauer’s complex and humoristic approach.
Designed with simplicity in mind, the site comprises a gallery of images, which each lead to a specific project. The nature of Tessy’s playful practice is conveyed by animated images and reappropriated material, giving the website a touch of humor. A section dedicated to Tessy’s process was also included in the design, allowing the artist to easily upload photos and videos, giving insight and acting like a visual diary or online sketchbook.
